Front Snap Kick
A front snap kick will deliver an upward blow, striking with the instep of your foot. Easily executed from a relaxed front stance for a surprise to your attacker.

Start by lifting your knee to hip level, pointing toward your target.

Extend your knee, driving your foot upwards. Traditionally the instep would be the impact point of your foot, but you could also draw back your toes, best if wearing shoes for a more concentrated impact point.

This kick would be effective if delivered to the groin. It could also be used to kick a weapon out of the attacker's hand (probably not a gun). This nice gentleman here, poses no threat to me whatsoever, but he was willing to donate his body for this picture in the interest of teaching self defense.
